Our History
Fulfilling the Mandate
Our mission is to empower the believer, win the lost, mend the brokenhearted and liberate the oppressed. (Isaiah 61:1) As the Body of Christ, we endeavor to fulfill this mission by:
-
Empowering disciples through the development and deployment of their spiritual gifts.
-
Winning the least, the last and the lost through the love of Jesus Christ and the Gospel of the Kingdom.
-
Mending the broken and the bruised through healing hands and understanding hearts.
-
Liberating the oppressed through fervent intercession and holistic outreach.
Faith Walk's first worship facility was located on West Fayetteville Road in the educational wing of the Riverdale Church of God in Christ. In October of 1992, the church moved to 6030 Highway 85, Riverdale, GA, Suite 244. It was housed at this location for two years. In October of 1994, the church moved again to 587 Garden Walk Boulevard, College Park, GA.
In October of 1996, the church voted unanimously to sever its ties with the Church of God in Christ denomination in order to become a nondenominational Pentecostal church body with its own ecclesiastical government. The name of the church was legally changed to Faith Walk Ministries, Inc. on December 6, 1996.
In November of 1999, the church acquired 3.68 acres of land and constructed an 8,000 square foot, 300-seat edifice, located at 6084 Riverdale Road, College Park, GA. In May of 2008, a deed gift of 3.1 acres was donated to the church. This property is situated directly across the street from Faith Walk's present location and will hold the Family Life Dream Center and Gymnasium, soon to be built. In May of 2011, the church acquired an adjacent .68 acre lot and vacant building. After renovations, it will be used for youth and community outreach activities. Faith Walk has several covenant and affiliate ministries connected with it.
